Care, Health and Safety
I know that pets are extremely special and a consultation is always arranged to meet and walk with you and your dog(s) and, if this goes well, to visit my home to ensure I understand as much as possible about their individual needs and make sure they get on with all resident dogs. I will also visit your home to meet cats and small animals and make sure everyone is happy for me to care for them.
Insurances
Love Paws has Public Liability Insurance, Business Home Insurance and Business Van Insurance. Completion of a Love Paws Pet Registration Form registers your pet for full cover, this includes expressed written permission to walk your dog off the lead. I also have Key Holder Insurance should you require me to have a key to your house.
Transportation
Love Paws has a Nissan NV200 van with full business van insurance. The van is spacious and has secured cages in the back, including an extra large cage for large dog breeds, to ensure dogs travel separately, comfortably and safely. I always carry water and a first aid kit and the cage area has a thermometer to gauge how hot it is in the summer.
Infectious / Contagious Diseases / First Aid
It is absolutely essential that diseases are not spread between animals, therefore, customers are asked to ensure their pets are healthy and, if something is wrong with them, eg. conjunctivitis or Kennel Cough which are highly contagious, to check with their vet before bringing them to our home or walking with other dogs.
I have taken a course and regularly update my training in Dog First Aid and could perform emergency care if necessary, if given permission to do so.
Vaccinations & Health
Customers are asked to provide a copy of their pet’s vaccination record or Titre Test proof of immunity and regularly give me updates about their pet’s vaccination status as applicable and a log is kept of all pets’ vet details. All customers are asked to keep their pets wormed and flea and tick-free.
Dog Theft Awareness
I am extremely aware of the reported rise in dog thefts and have taken precautions both inside my house, my garden area and while out walking, to keep all my dogs as safe as possible. This includes CCTV, locking gates, mobile alarms and other devices, as well as never leaving any dogs unattended while out. I have also stopped posting any photos or any information on social media sites and I would do anything within my power to protect and defend my dogs.
Micro chipping
It is now a legal requirement for all dogs to be micro chipped by the time they are 8 weeks old. A record is kept of all pets’ micro chip details.
Identity Tags
All dogs wear a Love Paws Identity Tag with Love Paws’ contact details on to ensure they are identifiable while they are walking or staying with us. It is a legal requirement, and a condition of my licence, for dogs to wear an identity tag at all times and this helps owners to be located quickly and easily if necessary.
